Give $1 to the TSA Annual Fund!

Woohoo!  Fifth grade is at 29% in our giving to the Annual Fund.  It is not the amount you give, but that you give.  When applying for grants, the school must be able to show that our faculty, alumni, and parents support the goals financially.  We would love for 5th grade to be at 100% showing complete support, just as our faculty and staff have done.  Won't you please join us in the quest to obtain grants for our school?

Discount Cards From the Athletic Department

Today, your child may have come home with an envelope containing five TSA Discount cards. These cards sell for $10 and pay for themselves many times over when you frequent these businesses. Our athletic department sponsors these cards each year.  If you would like to purchase one or sell to your friends, please return the money to your homeroom teacher.  Please understand you are under no obligation to purchase or sell these cards.  If you decline, please send all 5 cards back to your child's homeroom teacher.  Thank you for supporting TSA!

Kids Yule Love - Save the Date!

Who:    3K-12th
When:  Monday, December 9th, 8:15-10:00 A.M.
Where: Tattnall Square Academy Athletic Complex

Student Council and Key Club are busy working on our 26th annual Kids Yule Love Christmas program.  As always, we seek the cooperation and support of our Tattnall student body to make this event a success. Each student is encouraged to bring at least one unwrapped toy to the assembly that morning.  These toys will be given to Kids Yule Love for distribution to needy children in our community.  Thanks to you, Tattnall has always been one of the biggest donors to this worthy organization, and we desire to continue this tradition.  Any parents, siblings, grandparents, or Tattnall friends, who are free that morning, are welcome to attend the program.  Save the date and join us.  You’ll be glad you did!  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Shirley Kitchings  (Shirley.Kitchings@tattnall.org).

Great Fun At Medieval Times

What a great way to finish up the 5th grade's study of The Whipping Boy!  We had a wonderful time at Medieval Times Dinner and Theater, eating with our hands and cheering on the Black and White Knight!  Thank you to all of the parents who drove on this trip!  We look forward to our next outing with you.

Bits and Pieces

  • The technology committee is asking that all faculty, staff, and parents fill out the technology survey found at the website address below.  This information will help us to evaluate our technology needs.
     http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/H5JGZ9M

  • The Safety Committee would like to remind parents and visitors of our "No Parking" signs in front of the main office, and the "Handicap Parking Only" sign next to the ramp at the Athletic Complex.  If you are parking in any of these spaces, we ask you to be mindful of the signs as well.  The athletic complex sign is particularly being ignored,  and we need your help.  Leaving space provides easy access for emergency vehicles when needed.
  •  Trojan Legion is tomorrow!  Come hear our Band of Gold, as well as our 5th grade band students!  You can also pick up a 2013-2014 school directory.  After tomorrow night, they will cost you $3.00.

  • We hope you are familiar with Edline!  You should have received a code for easy access to see your child's grades.  Please contact the registrar if you are having any difficulty at all.

Upcoming Grandparents' Day

Hooray!  It's Grandparents' Day!  Friday, October 11, 2013, is Grandparents' Day at TSA.  This is always an exciting time for our students and their families.  Mrs. Howd, Mr. Tyner, the band, and chorus members have been working really hard on the "Hillbilly Hoedown" program.  Our VIPs will be able to have refreshments, visit the book fair in the library, and take a tour of the classrooms, if they desire.  The students will be able to leave with their grandparents, but a permission form is needed.  Look for this form in signed papers on Monday.  Return this form ASAP to your child's homeroom teacher.

Just a reminder to everyone to link your Kroger cards to the school by going online!  Use your QR Reader app to immediately go to Kroger's website.  It's a painless way to help Tattnall Square Academy to earn funds that support our program!

Thank you!

TSA Is Now Wireless!

We are so excited Tattnall has entered the 21st century!  Knowledge is everywhere!  Due to the efforts of Trojan Legion and a school-obtained grant, we have been able to incorporate wifi into the classroom.  As with any new tool, finding the best way to utilize this technology will be a work in progress.  Right now, the students are allowed to BYOT (bring your own technology).  Fifth grade has had fun searching the web using Nooks, I-phones, I-Pads, I-Pods, and other tablets to find prefix and suffix roots.  Students turn their devices into their teacher until required.  The possibilities are endless!

Blue jeans (not skirts, as students will be sitting on the floor and risers.)
White shirt (no words or designs)
Bandana around their neck (any color is fine)
2nd, 3rd & 5th graders in music class (not band) will need a cowboy hat – any color is fine. The hat will be used as a prop during a song.
Cowboy boots are permitted – but not required
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Howd.

Parent Conference Day - September 11, 2013

Wednesday, September 11th, is a half day for students.  We will dismiss at 11:45 a.m. Beginning at 1:00, we will be available to meet with parents who would like to have a conference.  We meet together as a team because we both teach your child.  If you would like to schedule a conference, please send us an email stating the time you would be available.  Your email will be answered confirming your time.  Our year has started wonderfully well, and this gives us an opportunity to share the progress your child has made.

**If we do not hear from you, we will assume that you do not wish to have a conference at this time.
