Overwhelming Response to Grandparents Day!

Dr. Riley asked that we let you know that since we have such a large number of grandparents attending Grandparent's Day next week (650), we are asking that all seats in Trojan Hall be reserved for grandparents ONLY.  She said parents are welcome to be here but are asked to stand in the back and leave seating open for the grandparents. Thank you for your cooperation with this and a big thank you to our TSA grandparents for the response! Remember we will be dismissing on a half day schedule on Grandparent's Day.

Medieval Times Field Trip Details

Mark your calendars, October 12th, is the day we will load up in private cars to head for Medieval Times in Lawrenceville, GA. We will depart TSA's parking lot at approximately 9am and return at approximately 3 pm. Medieval Times provides lunch and entertainment for our cost of $32.00 each. This is an experience within the walls of an 11th century-style castle. During the Medieval Times Educational Matinee, your child will step back into the Middle Ages as he/she witness medieval games of skill, spectacular horsemanship and even an authentic jousting tournament. As the Knights battle, the serfs and wenches serve a King's feast to be eaten Medieval-style: sans silverware! Lunch includes Garlic Bread, Oven-Roasted Chicken Quarter, Sweet Corn Cobette, Herb-Roasted Potato, Freshly-Baked Chocolate Chip Cookie, Filtered Water or Pepsi. What a great way to culminate the reading of the endearing tale, The Whipping Boy!

Any parents who would like to join us are encouraged and very welcome.A form will be sent home in next Monday's folder to help us get a count of drivers and parents who plan to attend. Each parent that is going will need to have the proper chaperone forms on file with the school. Please let your homeroom teacher know if you need forms.

Conference Day October 17th/Progress Reports/Field Trip Forms

Tattnall Square Academy has scheduled a school-wide conference day on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.  The children will be dismissed at 11:45 on that day, with conference times beginning at 1:00.  If you wish to have a conference with your child's teachers, a sign-up sheet will be available on Tuesday, Sept. 18, after the Trojan Legion Spaghetti supper/meeting.  The sign up sheet will be located outside the 5th grade classrooms.

Progress reports are available online through Edline.  In order to promote paperless communication, progress reports will not be printed and sent home by the school.  Please go online to check your child's progress at www.edline.net.

Our first field trip permission form is coming home today in your child's Monday folder.  Please note that this is a new form, and front and back must be completed.  Chaperone forms were sent out at an earlier date in Monday folders, but we have not recieved everybody's form.  If you still have the forms, please fill out and return as soon as possible.  If you need another copy, please inform your child's homeroom teacher.

You are all welcome to come enjoy their performance and our chapel service as well. The children are currently learning their capitals to music as well. Both of these songs can be found on the left hand side of TSA Fifth Grade and Friends Blog! Check it out!

LAST Magazine Turn In Is Tomorrow!

We have customarily extended the magazine sale past the last turn in day. That is not the case this year. We have heard from reliable sources that we will NOT be extending the sale past tomorrow. Please consider buying at least one subscription so that our classes will be 100% for participation and at the same time we will be helping our school purchase the things that we need to serve you, our families, the best way that we can! Thank you to all families that have already made purchases!!! We all want our holiday!

5th Grade Odds and Ends

Tomorrow is a big day for TSA – our first home football game!  Our students will be attending the pep-rally beginning at 2:50.  Please be aware that this will put us at carpool a few minutes later.  Please make arrangements to pick up your child around 3:15 instead of 3:00.

Also, tomorrow is Hat Day and Spirit Day!  For $1.00, your child may wear a hat of his or her choice.  The proceeds go toward “Tommy’s Run for Dandy Walker.”  Come dressed in Spirit attire to support our Trojans to victory!

The Varsity cheerleaders need everyone’s help in reviving an old Tattnall tradition.  They are inviting all Tattnall fans to line a path on the football field for our TSA players to run through prior to the game.  Come out and support our team!

Don’t forget that our last turn-in day for magazines is September 12th.  Keep selling those magazines so we can reach our goal and get our holiday in October.  Also, be sure to buy your Spaghetti Supper tickets to be held September 18th , from 5:00-6:30 in the TSA Cafѐ, preceding our first Trojan Legion meeting.
